Early work focusses on tools, evidence and practical deployment.

We combine responsible use of modern AI with fully deterministic, repeatable high performance scenario simulation and optimisation.

EPOCH software

Simon Le Blond was previously a founder of Elemental Power Ltd, where he led the development of EPOCH. Beyond the Desert is taking forward the EPOCH software open source, using it as a foundation for transparent site-decarbonisation modelling and future clean-energy project delivery.

Open energy modelling

Transparent scenario modelling and optimisation for buildings and community assets, including PV, heat, storage and tariffs. EPOCH can also be used for portfolio-level analysis, comparing multiple sites against a fixed capital budget to identify the most effective sequence of interventions. Rather than treating each building in isolation, the model can prioritise projects by carbon reduction, cost saving, deliverability, grid constraints and whole-life value. This helps organisations decide where to invest first, which combinations of PV, batteries, heat pumps, controls and fabric measures work best together, and how to phase upgrades across an estate in a way that is technically credible, financially disciplined and aligned with long-term decarbonisation goals.

Heat pump delivery

Open workflows and evidence capture to reduce friction between accepted quote and high-quality installation.

International pilots

Partner-led clean-energy deployments in communities where reliable energy access remains a barrier to flourishing.
