Transparent tools for a fairer energy transition.

Open source is not a slogan for us. It is a practical way to make knowledge reusable, auditable and adaptable by others.

EPOCH open-source software

Beyond the Desert builds on Simon Le Blond’s previous work as a founder of Elemental Power Ltd. We are taking forward the EPOCH site-decarbonisation software as an open-source project, making the underlying methods and tools more transparent, reusable and accessible.

Why openness matters

Clean-energy decisions affect public money, community assets and long-term infrastructure. Transparent tools help funders, engineers and communities understand why a recommendation has been made.

Where appropriate, we publish software, data structures, methods and learning so that others can inspect, reuse and improve them.

Reusable methods

Clear assumptions, repeatable workflows and plain-English outputs.

Shared software

Tools designed to be extended by engineers, researchers and mission-aligned partners.

Reduced lock-in

Open approaches keep communities and clients in control of their energy choices.
